Ger Robinson taking over clogherinkoe in kildare i believe and Shane Barrett going in with him as coach. Interesting one. Blackspot09 (Meath) - Posts: 1003 - 09/12/2020 09:10:03 2320547 Link 0 |
Glad to see Martin back again but disappointed that Caoimhin and John aren't playing. Still feel they have a lot to offer, especially guiding young lads along. It's a new competition so who knows? We could do with another good crack at the Keegan Cup.

Talk down here that Davy Byrne is taking Tyrrellspass - last year's finalists who lost out to Lomans after ET. BigSur (Westmeath) - Posts: 1162 - 10/12/2020 13:59:02 2321041 Link 0 |
Apparently he was good enough to manage a Meath u20 team yet he's now managing Clogherinkoe...

Senior Club in Kildare? I'd have thought it was a fairly decent job no? Anyway regardless if he was good enough to manage meath u20s is irrelevant for me. From what i can see a big reason he got it is because he put his name forward for it and nobody else did bar one other person. That's the real question. When you think of the talented coaches and managers we have if the county why have we only 2 people interested in managing one of our main county teams .

You need to have a crack at staying senior before you start thinking about Keegan cups Caoimhin and John old and all as they maybe will be sorely missed by Dunshaughlin head4dblackspot (Meath) - Posts: 513 - 10/12/2020 16:38:50 2321093 Link 0 |

don't think they will have any issue with that, some serious guys there in mid twenties who haven't been given a fair crack as yet, a young gallogly lad , o dhuslaine and with them & what I saw of the minors , and with top class management they could go along way in 2021

The one who brought Ratoath to KC success in 2019.

A long way Your havin a laugh Staying up will be an achievement Minor success means absolutely nothing at senior They had that top class management last year They had young Gallogly last year and it all ended up in a relegation playoff head4dblackspot (Meath) - Posts: 513 - 10/12/2020 20:55:31 2321181 Link 0 |
No point in sneering at a lad who is positive about his club team. There are no great teams in Meath sfc currently. Any senior team that he motivated, well coached and well organized has a chance, whether they be Dunsaughlin or Tones or whoever. Ratoath still look strongest however although may not have Wallaces next year.

Where was the application to put name forward for job.?
Borderroyal (Meath) - Posts: 496 - 10/12/2020 21:14:43 2321194 Link 0 |
Its a nominations process. So every club in the county is asked if they wish to nominate someone . That's how it starts so if you interested in the job get a club to nominate you then I'm assuming there is an interview process.

When are we going to go away from this archaic way of clubs nominating managers for our county teams? Why can't the people in charge of the county set up a process to find the best management team for a job? The more I think of Sean Boylan joining the Down U20 management, the more angry I get with our own county. Why has Sean not been utilised in any way shape or form officially since he stepped down in 2005? And we wonder why we are not producing enough quality players?

I agree its a completly outdated system. Sean was involved with Ger Robinsons management team as an advisor and was on the line for some games and I'm sure he would have been delighted to do the same for the new u20 management team whenever they announced.

Guys ...can u imagine explaining how we appoint our County Managers to a Dublin Supporter....and then in the same conversation saying to them that its unfair all the funding they get..and how unfair it all is? Now I know its two sides to the same argument & it is not directly connected, but at the same time you can see how the Dubs can get so frustrated with the debate being solely about Funds ….I keep saying it....if we put our hands up, and recognise our own role in our downfall..well then we have some chance to start a fair discussion on funding. referring back to Sean Boylan, on other thread....the single biggest breakthrough Sean achieved , in order for success to take place , was getting rid of the outdated 7 person selection committee to pick the team which he inherited...the County secretary had to be one I think (or chairman im not sure)….does this sound familiar...Sean broke new ground when he dismantled that farce & we need to show the same vision now....

The Dubs (amongst other counties) have also used that role to develop future senior managers, something the county board should look at. If it is managed properly, it should be providing 3 or 4 new options for the senior manager each year. round_ball_99 (Meath) - Posts: 19 - 11/12/2020 12:27:36 2321324 Link 1 |
id suggest three distinct tiers....and quite a gap among the tiers, so would suggest that there are some serious contenders , and some not so serious Tier 1- Ratoath, Dunboyne , Kells, Simonstown, Summerhill....call these ones to be avoided in your group Tier 2 - lets call them "on their day" - Na Fianna, Donaghmore, Moynalvey, Senchlestown, Tones & Skyrne and Tier 3 has an (a) section - Navan, Colmcilles Dunshaughlin & Curraha and (b) section - Rathkenny, & Ballinabracky Thelongwoodslasher (Meath) - Posts: 401 - 11/12/2020 16:10:49 2321385 Link 1 |
I'd say Rathkenny would love being in the B section of the 3rd tier of Senior considering they didn't even get out of their group in Intermedaite this year.
