It is in Nialls best interest to promote this. And I do agree to a certain extent.

I slagged off Niall Ronan earlier in the year and questioned him as to why we had so many injuries at start of league (we were decimated ). However you'd have to say that we were in serious shape against Wicklow and we steamrolled them more in terms of athleticism and fitness than anything else. Hats off to him so. what will be interesting is how he manages the Hurling , Football divide there That will be the test of his management skills. One week training with a full panel...the next with 10 lads & a goat

hope you don't flip again in your assessment of Ronan if we are bet by Kildare or have one or two walking wounded after that game

I agree that it is in his best interest to promote it, as it would benefit his profession, but this is definitely not his motivation for promoting this. Take a look at most club teams around Meath and the difference between the teams with structured and consistent S&C and coaching and the teams without that is massive. Niall's aim by the sounds of things would be to have every club and county team from U16 up to Senior singing off the same sheet in order to drag up the standards across the board, instead of just pumping all efforts into the Senior team. A rising tide lifts all boats. Gone are the days of a player being plucked from club football having done little to now S&C or quality skills coaching, and being brought into a Inter county Senior Squad. You need to have a strong base level before you go near a Senior Inter county set up.

€60 a night, you wouldn't get a lad to train a junior B team for that, add another 100 to it and your nearly there.

I agree it is hard to ask students and apprentices to pay what is essentially a training fee, skip training and save a few bob could easily become commonplace. But the on the other hand and maybe I stand to be corrected but until recently in a neighbouring county (in Leinster) players had to actually pay an entrance to matches. Very much down to the traditions within the club. In the long run county boards will have to hold high level training/development courses for club coaches. Their failure to do so up to now is possibly the main reason why they don't crack down on the payments allegedly being paid to club managers. Anything from €60 - €100 a night would be considered 'normal'

guys anyone have word on Kiltale Senior Job for 2021. Its a big one for them I feel, as the potential is still in them for another title, but do they bring in an outside voice to try & get the appetite back...short season this year could be a godsend for them for 2021

not sure, and not saying he should go either, more that I think with some sort of re energy injected here, that they have the resources ….perhaps just add another voice to mix , something different , Thelongwoodslasher (Meath) - Posts: 401 - 11/11/2020 12:19:44 2307529 Link 0 |

Managers where getting £50- £75 a nite 20-25 years ago, and I don't think its changed drastically since. And don't shoot the messenger here lads, reasons as to why any club would consider paying a manager is that the workload of training & managing an ambitious first team in a club (see there big Joe I never mentioned Senior Team) is unreal. The real argument is about the journey man who go from club to club every year who "invest" feck all back into the club, and really just tick a box , get paid & move on....but that's not their fault...thats the fault of the club in choosing the lads

The choosing has to be the big question.seems same lads moving around club to club.

I think your figures are a little low guys I would be thinking at the senior clubs the figures are up round 150 maybe more a night. I don't understand how a club committee can put certain managers in place after been let go from other clubs in the area for bad performances. Surely its down to not enough people wanting to take up the jobs? CMAN1570 (Meath) - Posts: 56 - 13/11/2020 00:20:14 2308230 Link 0 |
One such notorious journey man with a "chequered" past is thankfully out of work these days in the county. His mission seemed to be to demoralise and bully every young player, talented or otherwise, in clubs that he came into, never lasting more than a season at each club while contributing nothing to the club generally.

jazuz crinigan, thats a hell of a statement....and if even half of what you say is true then that very much on the heads of the various committtees that appoint this lad. Goes back to what Border Royal has said about a thorough interview where Club stress out its own ethos & principles …..sounds to me like whatever clubs this lad was hired by , had none...other than an over inflated view that they expected to win championships….so hard to blame the ejit that is going around taking the money focus on the ejits hiring him.
