Play like we did against Donegal in division 2 final and we have every chance.

Play like we did yesterday and we have no chance.

Answer the first question, yes absolutely we have a chance. I do have a feeling that not only will we give dubs one hell of a scare. I actually think we might just sneak a win. That's not just blind optimism, we won a match by 11 points where there is still 30% improvement at least to come. We have only been beat twice all year and that was by donegal, and on both occasions we can be deemed to be very unlucky, and look where they hey are.
Second question, I'd say he will be back but won't start.

Bert your right - yesterday was not good - we need wake up to what the lads can deliver on and push on. It was hard to look at yesterday and then to stay and watch the 2nd match and know what is coming.

There is a long and short answer to this.

The short answer - No.

The long answer - Look, nobody can deny Meath are making massive strides. They have had a really good year and theyre going places. Their league campaign has been very good, But that was against teams like Clare, Fermanagh, Kildare, Cork, Armagh.. and in the championship you've beaten Offaly, Carlow and Laois. That's not taking away from Meath, Its more making the point that none of them are Dublin, In Croke Park. Its a different ball game.

Will Meath fear Dublin ? No. Will Meath relish the chance of playing Dublin ? Of course they will. Will they put in some hard hits ? Absolutely. But I just don't see a world where its enough to beat Dublin because Dublin dont hold any fear of Meath either. There is no psychological issues there, no inferiority complex. Theyre better in every single department.. Theyre just such a well oiled professional machine. They wont be having sleepless nights in the build up. They will just rock up, and take it from there. No complacency, no eyes on games ahead, they'll focus solely on Meath.

For me, Meath will still be way out of their depth. The gulf in class in Leinster is still astronomical and even if Meath do get that extra 30% improvement that RD is talking about, The eventual outcome still wont be in any doubt. That Meath team playing at 60/70% against Laois was good enough to win by 11 pts. The difference in Meath playing at 60/70% v Dublin, and playing at 100% v Dublin is the difference between a 7-9 point defeat (at 100%), and a 17-19 pt defeat (at 60/70%)

Dublin are 1/50 with the bookies and the handicap is -12.

I think you are not seeing the real point of yesterday. we played with a lot of men back and hit them on the break. they only scored 11 points and Carlow got nine . play like they did against Donegal and try and out score Dublin we will be beating well. stop been so negative about Meath and look forward to the Dublin game. what ever happens we are one game away from the super eight and a final to look forward too, and division one next year. a great year so far

I'm feeling optimistic and that - 12 handicap is tempting. If Meath improve and Dublin don't I can see us getting within 12. The problem is I can't see Dublin not improving. There are starting places in the super 8's up for grabs. No way we won't see an improvement.

Meath are making strides just like Kildare last year or meath in 2012/13. The problem is getting trounced by Dublin can knock the wind out of their sales. It's very important for the teams long term development the manager places no weight or expectations on getting a result. All eyes must be on the qualifier draw made the day after.

Here's the second round draw:
Westmeath v Limerick
Longford v Tyrone
Antrim v Kildare
Leitrim v Clare
Down v Mayo
Derry v Laois
Offaly v Sligo
Monaghan v Armagh

The 8 winners will play each other in round 3 and the remaining 4 will play the losers of:
Meath v Dublin
Cork v Kerry
Cavan v Donegal
Roscommon v Galway

Beating laois was vital for our super 8 chances. We would have been drawn away to derry next week. That could have ended our year there and then. If we can avoid Mayo or Tyrone in the last qualifier round it would be ideal. Can't wait to see how it all pans out and who we get. I believe the match will be in Croker so as RD has said playing the league final, the leinster semi and now the final in Croker will really stand to this team.

I have good money on meath at 250/1 to go all the way this year. I may cash out if we hit the super 8s.

What a difference 12 months make. Best of luck in leinster final lads. Ye seem to be playing with confidence again. With the history and rivalry, chance to "put them under pressure"....This time we have tyrone. Poor them coming to pearse park!!!!!!!!....seriously though any punters out there, stay away from this one. We're missing 6 front liners which is a pity!

Our defence were exceptional yesterday. My issue is more with transition to attack, midfield, and shooting.

Our shooting in front of goal and shot selection was awful yesterday but at least not as bad as Laois!

The lads will know they can do better than yesterday

This will be the toughest game any of these lads have played. Everyone needs to be at 100%, match ups need to be spot on and we need to go man on man.

Shane Mc will probably pick up Fenton and try to curb his influence. I think our backs are good enough to hold the Dublin forwards but it's Dublins half back line and even fullback line when they overlap which could cause us problems.

Newman has gone off the boil a bit, not entirely his own fault as there hasn't been enough direct ball into him while Conlon won't get the space that Laois gave him. McMahon and O Sullivan need a big performance while Brennan seems to be struggling for form.

I would be inclined to start O Sullivan, McMahon, Brennan, Dardis, Newman and Conlon. This leaves us with two big ball wins in the full forward line and a half forward line of pace and workers. Still a couple of weeks away yet so I'll be changing my mind a good bit between now and then

Dublin play a high line two rows of backs in the midfield 40 yard line. How do we get through them ? Running at them I don't think will work. They will love it high ball in to Newman ? We need to think outside the box I think we will try some new for this one

Don't get the negativity, objectives for the year were to get promoted and get to Super 8, We now face one of the all time great teams, a huge challenge, Being totally honest there are 3 or 4 teams in the country that are capable of even giving Dublin a game and only 1 or 2 that might have a chance of beating them. We are not in either category yet, but we are improving big time. Who would have thought last year that we would win 3 games in the Leinster Championship by an aggregate of almost 30 pts. Do I think that we will beat Dublin? In reality I have not seen anything to suggest that we will, but the gap between us and the top teams is closing. I will go to the game and hope to see every many in green giving it everything, I want them to try and impose our way, to stand our ground and try to live with them physically.

Looking forward to the final at Our national stadium, the neutral venue that is Croke Park.

I wonder what Dublin promotional video (like Cluxtons one before the Kildare game) will be blared out pre game on the big screen to both teams?

Agree completely and think this is what presents the biggest problem to us. We rarely kick quick ball in to the full forward line apart from a few to conlon the last day. We play a running game and I fear the dubs may eat us alive if we just do this. We had great success against donegal in the first half when we kicked ball into Newman who was on fire and needs to be the next day if we are to have any chance. I'd like to see Newman and conlon in a 2 man full forward line with o Sullivan playing off them. Ideal team - colgan, Gallagher, McGill, lavin, Harnan, Keoghan, mcentee, menton, Shane mc, McMahon, o Sullivan, brennan, conlon, Newman and Ronan ryan. I'd bring ryan out the field to win dirty ball we seem to very poor at this and the sooner kane is back the better as that's his bread and butter. H'on the royal

Anyone what story is with Kane? Also hear a lot about Shane Walsh joining the panel, is this wild speculation or possible? Regardless of Sunday week with those two to come back and hopefully Donal lenihan and Ronan Jones next year it will add more options
