Kiltale and Ratoath meet in the SHC semi final at Devenish Park

We will know our final pairings in the Senior, Senior B, Intermediate and Intermediate B hurling championship on Sunday.

Devenish Park plays host to the four semi finals. First up in the IHC B is the meeting of neighbours Boardsmill and Trim. Town favourite and Boardsmill manager Neil Heffernan will be hoping to turn around their round 5 defeat to the Reds and earn a place against Wolfe Tones in the final. After a shaky start Trim have improved with every game and their squad includes a strong core of youth and former senior players.

Clann na nGael forced their way into the IHC semi final with two points to spare over Drumree in round 5 two weeks ago. The teams met in the Billy Byrne Cup final before the start of the championship with Drumree holding the upper hand against a weakened Athboy outfit. The return of Eamon O'Donnchadha could have a major bearing on who plays Rathmolyon in the final.

After a disappointing display against Kilskyre/Moylagh in round 2 of the Senior B Dunderry have regrouped impressively and recorded wins over O’Mahony’s, Longwood and Killyon. An Evan Nolan goal and five star displays from Adam Kelly, Cathal Barron and Ciaran O’Brien was crucial in that round 4 win over Longwood at Boardsmill. Last year's finalists Longwood have struggled since their opening round win over O’Mahony’s and needed results to go their way in round 5 to progress. Kilskyre/Moylagh await the winners.

A big crowd is expected at Devenish Park for another instalment of Kiltale versus Ratoath. These two sides rearly disappoint and another great game is on the cards. Kiltale held the upper hand in round 3. Jack Regan, Hughie O’Sullivan and Mark Sullivan accounted for 1-16 of the winners total that day in Trim. The holders regained their composure and recorded wins over Kildalkey and Trim to book a semi final spot. The loss of Hughie O’Sullivan to injury is a major blow to John O’Donoghue’s men. If last year’s SHC final draw is anything to go by this is one not to be missed.

The Junior and Junior B finals titles are up for grabs on Saturday. Kildalkey and St. Pats are no strangers to meeting each other at the stage. The Village held the upper hand in the 2023 final at Pairc Tailteann.
