Mayo midfielder Jack Carney says he expects Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC final against Kerry to be a cracker.

Andy Moran’s side come into their county’s first Sam Maguire Cup decider in five years off the back of some exceptional displays in the quarter-finals, with the latest two weeks ago seeing them handing Louth a comprehensive 3-23 to 0-15 defeat.

Speaking to RTE Sport ahead of the biggest date on the football calendar this Sunday, Carney says he can see another thriller unfolding at headquarters this weekend.

"It's obviously usually a great game between ourselves and Kerry, two teams who express themselves through football," the Kilmeena clubman said.

"I always enjoy those games so I imagine Sunday will be no different. I'm really looking forward to it."

On the team’s in-form full-forward line of Darragh Beirne, Ryan O’Donoghue and Kobe McDonald, Carney added: " They're three incredible lads, first of all. They always want the ball, and I suppose like any great forward, if something doesn't go right for them, they're reset, they refocus really quickly and they want it again.

"For me, someone around the middle, they're always looking for it. That's obviously nice to play with. You can let the ball into them and let them do their thing. They're working really well as a trio at the moment and that may continue for the next while and hopefully the next few years."
