Hannah Tyrrell has undergone surgery on the ACL injury she sustained in the closing stages of last month's All-Ireland ladies football final.
The multi-talented sportswomen announced her inter-county retirement after hobbling off with the injury in the final minutes of Dublin's 2-16 to 0-10 victory over Meath at Croke Park.
In a Instagram post accompanied by photos of her recovery, Tyrrell thanked all who had supported her over the past few weeks.
"I guess I have to retire now," she wrote.
"Not exactly the way I would have liked to end my inter-county career, but grateful to have been able to walk off the pitch on my own two feet and to be able to celebrate the win at the end.
"A new challenge awaits with ACL rehab, but happy to have the surgery over and done with, and I can start looking ahead to what’s next.
"Thank you to everyone for their kind messages and well wishes on recovery."
