Offaly ladies get third manager in two months

The Offaly flag flies proudly

Enda Dunne has become Offaly’s third ladies football manager in just two months.

The Clara man will take charge of the team for the first time on Sunday when the beleaguered Faithful open their TG4 Leinster Intermediate Championship campaign with a trip to Aughrim to face Wicklow in the preliminary round. He steps into the breach after Greg Farrelly and Brian Cosgrave both had spells in charge already this year.

Farrelly was controversially ‘relieved’ of his duties in mid-February following defeats to Wexford, Carlow and Limerick in their first three Lidl National League games. Limerick native Cosgrave, who managed Shamrocks to a county intermediate championship success last year, replaced the Edenderry man, but couldn’t turn the team’s fortunes around as a disastrous Division 3 campaign culminated in a heavy defeat to Louth.

Dunne has managed a number of men's club teams locally, including Croghan outfit St Brigid's who he guided to an IFC final appearance against neighbours Daingean two years ago.
