Tipperary hurling great Noel McGrath is hoping to add a Munster club SFC medal to his impressive honours collection on Sunday week.

After playing in Loughmore-Castleiney’s recent Munster club SHC semi-final defeat to Ballygunner with a stomach bug, McGrath was back to full health as he helped the double Tipperary champions to a first provincial football final appearance in 51 years at the expense of Éire Óg, Ennis last weekend.

Their opponents are Kerry giants Dr Crokes who received a big scare from Waterford’s Rathgormack before prevailing by a point in the other semi-final.

"I’ve been fine since Wednesday. It’s just one of those things. You’re either lucky or unlucky," the dual star told RTÉ.

"It just happened to be on the wrong day but that’s the way it goes. You just have to get on with it. I got back to the field during the week and I was happy enough."

He added: “A Munster club football final is a big occasion. It’s one that we’ll really be looking forward to. We’ll get ourselves ready to have a good crack off of it. It’s so hard to get to them, when you get there, you want to do yourself justice and try and win it.

"Crokes are a top-class side. Everyone knows Dr Crokes and their football heritage. We’ll get ourselves right for that. We’ll enjoy this, a great win, and we’ll look at that during the week."
