Derry's four-month search for a new senior football manager has finally ended with the appointment of Paddy Tally on a three-year term.

Tally will leave his performance coaching role with Kerry after being ratified at last night's county board meeting. His backroom team will include Paul McIver, Kevin McGuckin and Paul McFlynn. Tally replaces Mickey Harte who stepped down after just one season in charge in July.

The Galbally native was Harte's trainer when Tyrone won their first All-Ireland SFC title in 2003 before going on to coach Down to a surprise All-Ireland SFC final appearance under James McCartan in 2010. 

Tally also worked in backroom teams for Derry - during Brian McIver's tenure - and Galway before managing Down for three years.

Derry have also confirmed their other management teams for 2025. Johnny McGarvey will manage the senior hurlers, Damian McErlain is U20 football manager, Ryan O'Neill will lead the U20 hurlers, while Kieran Glackin and Danny McGrellis are minor football and hurling managers respectively.
