Kian Campbell got the scoreboard working with a pointed free but by the 10th minute Dunsany playing with the wind into the O’Mahonys end were 0-4 to 0-1 up, their scores coming from Stephen Cahill (2), Robert Johnson and Cormac Fagan. Kayden Plunkett landed Clonard’s second before Dunsany went further ahead through Dean Smith and Cahill. The games first turning point came in the 20th minute when Clonard midfielder Aaron Scott burst through for a great goal. The sides went in at the break level 0-8 to 1-5.

Dean Carroll gave Clonard a great start to the second half with a fantastic point from the outside of the boot but Cahill and Johnson had Dunsany back in front with ten minutes gone. In the following nine minutes the boys in Blue and Gold made a push for home. Daniel Johns and Plunkett pointed before the impressive Plunkett finished to the net to open up a four point lead. Cahill and Johnson reduced that to two before the winners rattled off five points without reply from Plunkett (3), Carroll and Campbell to put them on the road to a memorable victory at the county grounds.

After the game County Board Chairman Jason Plunkett and Minor Board Secretary David Campbell presented the MFL Division 5 Cup to Clonard captain Niall McHugh.
