Moynalty's James Cassidy with Josh Keating Cortown during the Meath Junior B FC final at Carnaross

Moynalty 0-17 Cortown 0-7

A five star display from James Cassidy was the main talking point as Moynalty secured their place in the Junior B football championship final with this comfortable win over Cortown at a splendid Carnaross.

Cassidy scored the first of his seven points in the opening minutes, the impressive Paddy Byrne doubled their lead soon after. Cortown replied through Hugh Staunton and Tommy Smith to tie up proceedings. From there on Moynalty dominated the remainder of the game.

Seven points without reply from Cassidy (3), Byrne (2), John Brogan and Cormac Kearney put Derek O’Brien’s charges into a commanding 0-10 to 0-3 interval lead.

Cassidy extended that lead with the first score of the second half. Anto Nevin, Kearney, Byrne, Ollie Sheridan and Cassidy again pushed the lead out to 11. To their credit Cortown kept at it and were rewarded with scores from substitutes Stephen Fitzmaurice and Conor Mulroe but there was no denying Moynalty who advance to the final.

The Tidy Villagers will be hoping to end their final day heartbreak when they take on Kilmainhamwood or Slane. Moynalty have lost four Junior B deciders since 2009.

Moynalty scorers: James Cassidy 0-7, Paddy Byrne 0-4, Cormac Kearney 0-2, Ronan Lynch, Anto Nevin, John Brogan and Ollie Sheridan 0-1 each
