Former Kildare football star Anthony Rainbow has been appointed manager of Laois outfit Arles-Killeen.

The ex-Carlow and Ballyboden St Enda’s manager takes charge after being part of Glenn Ryan’s Kildare management team for the past three years. He replaces the Wexford pair of Shane Roche and Aidan O’Brien who took over from Donncha O’Reilly in mid-season. Arles-Killeen went on to reach their first Laois SFC quarter-final in seven years where they lost to 14-man O’Dempseys by five points.

“Arles-Killeen GAA is excited to announce the appointment of Anthony Rainbow as the new Senior Football Manager for the 2025 season,” the club said in a Facebook post.

“As a player, Anthony had a distinguished career with the Kildare senior football team, where he earned numerous accolades, including All-Ireland Under-21 and Leinster Senior Football titles. His leadership and commitment on the field made him a respected figure within Kildare football circles.

“Anthony has a wealth of experience and a proven record also as a manager, including winning Dublin senior and Leinster championships with Ballyboden St Enda’s and winning Kildare senior championships with Sarsfields.

“He also has inter-county experience, former manager of Carlow senior team for two years, and coach with Kildare senior team for three years. Welcome on board.”
