Derek Lyng will remain in charge of the Kilkenny senior hurlers for another two years with Eddie Brennan and Niall Corcoran part of his management team.
Lyng’s appointment until the end of 2027 was ratified at a county board meeting last night. The meeting also learned that Brennan and Corcoran are new additions to his backroom team, with Michael Rice and Peter O’Donovan remaining part of the set-up.
Brennan and Corcoran previously worked together with Laois, guiding the O'Moore County to Joe McDonagh Cup success in 2019 before masterminding the first-ever preliminary quarter-final win by a Joe McDonagh side at Dublin’s expense. One of Kilkenny’s greatest ever forwards, Brennan also previously managed the county’s U21s and has worked with Cuala (Dublin) and Moycarkey-Borris (Tipperary) at club level.
Former Galway and Dublin hurler Corcoran also had coaching spells with Wexford and Laois again this year under Tommy Fitzgerald.
“Following a meeting of the Kilkenny County Board this evening, Derek Lyng has been ratified as the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Manager on a two-year term. He will be joined by Selectors and Coaches Michael Rice, Peter O’Donovan, Eddie Brennan and Niall Corcoran,” a county board statement read.
“Kilkenny County Board wishes Derek and his team the very best of luck for the seasons ahead.”
