Na Fianna came out on top in a cracking third round encounter against Ballyboden St Endas in the Dublin senior hurling championship yesterday.

It finished 2-21 to 1-21 at Parnell Park, where the All-Ireland champions secured a third straight win in their county title defence with stars Tom Brennan and Colin Currie among those to the fore for them.

‘Boden had made a decent start with an early goal from David Keogh, but Na Fianna hit back with a brace of majors through Brennan to move towards a 2-13 to 1-11 half-time lead.

The holders’ cause wouldn’t be helped by the dismissal of full-back Sean Burke in the 41st minute, however, their opponents would never be able to get on level terms despite their numerical advantage.

David Gleeson and Niall McMorrow shot over scores to keep the 2018 winners right in the hunt and more points via Gleeson, Fionn Murphy and Niall Ryan left two in it coming down the home stretch.

A Jack Lambert free left the minimum between the sides with two minutes left in normal time, but, crucially, the next score went Na Fianna’s way. Brennan would be the one to sent it over ahead of Gavin King grabbing the insurance point which saw the Glasnevin men winning out by three in the end.
