GAAGO subscription revenues increased by a whopping 118% last year.

Despite facing a backlash from GAA supporters and political figures alike, the controversial GAA and RTÉ streaming joint venture saw its subscription revenues and sponsorship income soar by €2.6 million to €4.96 million, as per a report by journalist Gordon Deegan.

The company’s overall revenues jumped from €2.4 million to €5.23 million. It recorded a post-tax profit of €761,370 in 2023 after paying €112,677 in corporation tax.

GAAGO secured a championship rights package after Sky Sports' nine-year association came to end in 2022, but it has been the subject of much criticism due to the high volume of games behind a paywall on a service reliant on broadband.

The news comes after the GAA sought expressions of interest in August for the media rights to championship games currently broadcast on GAAGO for 2025. TG4 is believed to have submitted a bid.
