Ulster University have decided not to recall Conor Glass and Ethan Doherty for this evening’s Sigerson Cup final against UCD at Austin Stack Park (throw-in 7.30pm).
The talented duo are currently enjoying a well-earned holiday after a hectic period of action with Glen and Derry. But even if they were available, Ulster University manager Barry Dillon believes it would be unfair on others to bring them in at this late stage.
Previously known as UUJ, Ulster University are seeking a first Sigerson Cup since 2008 against 34-winners UCD, who are appearing in their first final in six years. In their respective semi-finals, Niall Loughlin’s first half goal was crucial to UU’s 1-13 to 0-11 win over Maynooth University, while second half goals from Jonathan Lynam and Davy Garland helped UCD to a 2-12 to 1-14 victory over UL.
The Trench Cup also reaches its climax today with hosts MTU Kerry taking on DkIT in the final at 4.30pm.
