Oldcastle have announced the appointment of former Meath star Joe Sheridan as their new intermediate football team manager.

The 2010 Leinster SFC winner, who has represented the Royals both as a forward and a goalkeeper, and replaces Cavan man Brian Donohoe, is very familiar with the Meath IFC from his time in charge of Duleek-Bellewstown who he led to final appearances in 2022 and '23. Oldcastle were favourites to lift the Mattie McDonnell Cup this year, only to come unstuck against Ballivor in the quarter-final.

"Oldcastle GFC are delighted to announce Joe Sheridan as our new Senior Manager," a Facebook post read. 

"Joe enjoyed a long and successful playing career with Meath, winning two O’Byrne Cups, a Leinster Senior Football Championship and National FL Div. 2. He also won two Meath Senior Football Championships with his native Seneschalstown, and more recently, managed Duleek to two Intermediate Finals.

"Joining Joe as Selectors will be Niall Mangan, John McNamee and Paddy Tuite, a good experienced gang of lads, while James Caffrey comes onboard as Strength and Conditioning Coach. Best of luck to all for 2025!"
