Former Kilkenny All-Ireland MHC winning captain Darragh Joyce has signed a one-year contract extension with Brisbane Lions.

The 27-year-old from Rower-Inistioge has put pen to paper on a new deal after helping the Lions to their first AFL Premiership title in 21 years with a 60-point demolition of Sydney Swans last weekend. While neither he nor James Madden from Dublin played in the Grand Final, Tyrone’s Conor McKenna came off the bench to become only the second man to win All-Ireland SFC and AFL Premiership medals.

Joyce signed with Brisbane last year after spending his first six year’s in Aussie Rules with St Kilda.
