Padraic Joyce isn’t sure if Damien Comer and Shane Walsh will be available for Galway’s All-Ireland SFC round-robin opener at home to Dublin.
The attacking duo missed last Sunday’s Connacht SFC final victory over Mayo along with Johnny Heaney, Finnian Ó Laoi and Cillian Ó Curraoin through injury. Comer made his return from injury against Roscommon in the semi-final, but was ruled out of the decider after suffering a setback in a recent challenge match.
“They weren’t fit for today,” the Galway manager told reporters.
“If they are fit the next day, they’ll be part of it but if not, we’ll keep going with what we have because what we have there seems to be doing okay.”
Joyce admitted that Galway were fortunate to hold on for a 1-17 to 1-15 win after Matthew Ruane’s attempted two-pointer to force extra-time tailed wide.
“We knew it was going to come down to the wire. It is about making the right decisions in high pressure situations as we call them. We got a bit of luck but sometimes when you work hard enough a bit of luck will come your way.”
