Limerick manager John Kiely has confirmed that Seamus Flanagan was left out of his squad for yesterday’s Allianz Hurling League Division 1A clash with Tipperary for disciplinary reasons.
The towering full forward missed the four-point victory at the TUS Gaelic Grounds after being involved in a controversial incident the previous Sunday where mobile phone footage taken by a spectator appeared to show him striking Cork defender Niall O’Leary in the groin area with the butt of his hurl.
“Seamus wasn’t togged out,” Kiely told reporters.
“It’s an internal matter. We took it on ourselves to deal with it. It’s finished, it’s done, it’s dusted. He missed today’s game, we move on. He regrets it, we move on.
"It was one of those moments, it was poor from him, but we move on.”
