Tipperary retained the All-Ireland Masters hurling crown, thanks in no small way to the ageless Lar Corbett.

The star of Tipp’s 2010 All-Ireland SHC final win over Kilkenny and 2010 Hurler of the Year was at it again in Enniscorthy on Saturday evening as he helped the peerless Premier County to a comfortable All-Ireland Masters final victory over Wexford, 3-24 to 0-12.

The repeat of the 2024 final was a one-sided affair with the 44-year-old Thurles Sarsfields ace netting in the 48th minute – ten years on from his senior intercounty retirement. Corbett starred at midfield alongside fellow All Star hurler Shane McGrath, who was captain.

Another Premier County icon, Eoin Kelly, was also on target for Ger 'Redser' O’Grady’s charges as Tipp added the over 40s title to the senior and U20 All-Irelands also annexed in a stellar calendar year. Former senior captain O'Grady brought himself on 14 minutes from the end, hit a goal six minutes later, and instantly replaced himself. Job done!
