An eight-year-old boy who lost a sliotar while on holiday in Donegal eight months ago has been reunited with it after it washed up on a beach in Scotland.
Fion O’Neill from Carryduff near Belfast was playing on the beach last summer when his ball went missing.
"I was playing with it and hitting it against a rock. It went over the rock and we couldn't find it. It got lost in a bush,” he told the BBC.
"I was shocked it turned up in Scotland - I didn't think it could end up there. I was happy it turned up because it's like a souvenir."
The sliotar was found by Donald Mac Issac while he was walking on a beach near his home in Lock Eynort. And thanks to the ball having the Carryduff GAA crest on it, he was able to trace it back to its owner.
He said: "I felt it was important to contact the club as the owner's name was on the ball which made it a bit more personal. And to find out who the owner was is quite special.”
