Limerick forward Seamus Flanagan is facing sanction following an incident involving Cork opponent Niall O’Leary in last Saturday’s drawn Allianz Hurling League Division 1 encounter.

Footage of Flanagan appearing to strike O’Leary in the groin area with his hurl could result in a retrospective ban for the Limerick man from the CCCC.

“It is a thing you don’t like to see in any game. It shouldn’t be condoned,” Joe Canning said on Allianz League Sunday.

“There were an awful lot of things going on off the ball last night and it is very hard for referees to see everything that is going on.

“And it is unfortunate but it is not good to see.”

Jackie Tyrrell also condemned the incident on the same programme, adding: “There is no room in our game for that kind of carry-on. Seamus Flanagan is a very talented hurler but he shouldn’t be doing that on the field.”
