Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O’Neill has described the decision not to provide funding for Casement Park in time for Euro 2028 as "deeply disappointing".

The UK Government confirmed the decision last night in a letter to Northern Ireland’s Communities Minister Gordon Lyons from the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Hilary Benn and Secretary of State for Culture and Sport Lisa Nandy.

Ms O’Neill stated branded the news "a missed opportunity for sport and our economy” and says that she will work with the GAA, the two governments and the Northern Executive to push the project forward.
