Promising Louth footballer James Maguire is on the brink of switching clubs.
LMFM is reporting that Maguire – who was a key member of the Louth U20 team that reached last year’s Leinster final against Meath and is eligible for the grade again this season – is transferring from Westerns to Carrick Emmets across the county boundary in Monaghan.
His imminent departure is another blow to Westerns who lost county midfielder Tommy Durnin to another Monaghan club, Inniskeen, four years ago. On the plus side, James’ younger brother and Louth minor Tom is staying with the Reaghstown-based junior outfit.
