Ballygunner boss Darragh O’Sullivan is confident that his side can recover from their shock Munster club SHC final defeat to Sarsfields.

The 11-in-a-row Waterford champions were hot favourites to complete a four-in-a-row of provincial successes, but came unstuck against the Cork representative who were inspired by super-sub Shane O’Regan’s 2-3 haul.

"You look at that group that's in there and you look at the young lads that are on the sideline - you see the age profile of the young lads that are on the sideline, you look at the age profile of the lads that are coming out of minor - we're going to be dancing at the top table for a long time to come,” a defiant O’Sullivan told WLR FM.

“We're going to be there, we're going to be at the top of Waterford hurling, trying to win some championships, and if we get out of it, we'll be very competitive with Munster, as any other team would be.

“In the past, people have degraded the Waterford championship a bit, and said that we've got things soft. We don't get things soft in Waterford hurling, we don't, absolutely not. I think if any of the other top teams got out of Waterford, they would be challenging for Munster titles as well."
