Dublin captain Chris Crummey looks almost certain to miss his team’s All-Ireland SHC semi-final against Cork in eight days’ time after being unsuccessful in his red card appeal.

Crummey was sent off 15 minutes into the capital men’s famous victory over Limerick last Saturday for a high challenge on opponent Gearoid Hegarty, with Niall Ó Ceallacháin’s side going on to record the upset of the championship for a place in the last four of the Liam MacCarthy Cup race.

It was confirmed yesterday that the Lucan Sarsfields clubman lost in his appeal to the Central Hearings Committee, however he has the option now to take it to the Appeals Committee should he wish to pursue the matter.

Saturday week’s showdown with the Rebels at Croke Park (5pm) will see Dublin looking to shred the script, as they currently sit as 11/2 outsiders to reach their county’s first All-Ireland SHC final since 1961.
