Updated 'Return To Play' Guidelines: Clubs not responsible for checking temperatures

June 13, 2020

Updated 'Return To Play' guidelines.

The GAA, the LGFA and the Camogie Association have updated information on their 'Return To Play' guidelines regarding the health questionnaire and temperature checking.

In the 'Return To Play' roadmap document which was published last Friday, it stated that the health questionnaire had to be completed before each training session and game. Each participant had also been advised to check and record their temperature on the health questionnaire while clubs were encouraged to make provisions for on-site temperature checking.

However, these policies have changed and the health questionnaire will only need to be completed once before the returning training session. It is the responsibility of each individual to monitor their own temperature and not the club. The temperature will not be needed to complete the health questionnaire.

New policy on health questionnaire and temperature checking in 'Return To Play' document:

  • The Health Questionnaire will need to be completed once, before the initial return to training.
  • It will be the responsibility of the individual to inform the team’s Covid Supervisor of any change in circumstance before subsequent sessions
  • It is the responsibility of the individual to monitor their own temperature.
  • The presence of symptoms such as a high temperature (above 37.5c), cough, sore throat, general weakness, shortness of breath and change or absence in taste or smell prevents attendance at training with a recommendation that the individual contacts their General Practitioner.
  • Temperature must not be recorded on the Health Questionnaire.
  • Clubs are not responsible for recording of temperatures.
