Andy McEntee has joined Monaghan football manager Gabriel Bannigan’s backroom team ahead of the 2026 season.

McEntee fills the void left by Andy Moran following his recent appointment as Mayo manager. McEntee managed his native Meath for six years and Antrim for a further three. He stepped down as Saffrons boss in late June following their exit from the Tailteann Cup. He also led Ballyboden St Enda’s to All-Ireland club glory in 2018 and is currently involved with his home club St Peter’s, Dunboyne.

Speaking on The Farney Army Pod last week, Bannigan said of his search to find a replacement for Moran: “I’m trying to get the right fit to come in and add value to what we already have, and adding value to the squad as well to help us in the next phase of that development and where we’re trying to bring Monaghan.

“We have other really good people in the management set-up. John McElhone is top class.

“Dermot Malone managed the Monaghan minor team to an All-Ireland final three years ago. He has his first year of senior inter-county coaching behind him now.

“We have Dermot McArdle, Damien Freeman. Paul Talty is the absolute best in class as strength and conditioning coach, great guy to have on the team, and others in the backroom team, so we have really good people.”
