Kenny McKinley and Jody Murray are the new Westmeath U20 football and hurling managers respectively.
McKinley is a former St Loman’s and Westmeath footballer who was centre back on the Lake County’s 1995 All-Ireland MFC winning team. He guided St Malachy’s to an IFC title last year and is also a former Westmeath ladies football manager. He succeeds 1995 All-Ireland MFC winning captain Damien Gavin, who spent five years in the role.
McKinley’s selectors are former All-Star goalkeeper Gary Connaughton from Tubberclair, Milltown’s Mick Dillon and The Downs’ Tommy Cleary, who is another link with the all-conquering minor side of nearly 30 years ago.
Former Castlepollard star Jody Murray takes over from Clonkill’s Kevin O’Brien as U20 hurling manager. Murray has managed his native club and Meath outfit Kilskyre/Moylagh in the recent past.
