Kevin McStay wasn't overly concerned about Mayo's stuttering display against Leitrim in Carrick-on-Shannon.
What was expected to be a stroll in the park turned into a real battle as rank outsiders Leitrim pushed the visitors hard before eventually losing by 0-13 to 0-20. Mayo will now face either Galway or Roscommon in the Connacht SFC final, while Leitrim head for the Tailteann Cup with pride restored after a difficult Allianz League campaign.
"All departments need work," the Mayo manager conceded.
"We'll be faced with a different scenario the next day. Every game is slightly different. We have pretty much a full pack to pick from, so it's going to be tasty the next two weeks because there are jerseys on offer. I'm hoping everybody's highly motivated now for (training on) Tuesday night."
He added: "We had nine or 10, 11 scorers which is always good.
"I think the manner in which we didn't get stressed when the squeeze that was on us, the lads just stayed with it, we felt they (Leitrim) might tire in the third quarter, then we got a run on them, a succession of four or five points, they didn't go away they kept chipping away back at us, but the last five or 10 minutes looked like there was only going to be one winner."
