Quick turnaround not a problem for Harte

Peter Harte isn’t complaining about having just eight days to prepare for the All-Ireland club SFC final against Cuala.

While admitting that the quick turnaround from Errigal Ciarán’s thrilling win over Dr Crokes isn’t ideal, Harte points out that it’s the same for both teams after their semi-finals were postponed by six days due to the freezing weather.

“I suppose that break was funny there, four or five weeks (after the Ulster final). You’re not kind of used to it. Thank God we managed it well,” the long-serving Tyrone star told reporters after last weekend’s game.

“Both teams were probably at it hard over Christmas. We’re just looking forward to this weekend. You hope you can bring your best game on All-Ireland final day.

“It’s kind of exciting, but probably an extra week’s break wouldn’t do us any harm.

“The opposition will probably say the same but you’re just delighted to be there. You don’t have too much time to think about it. You get the bodies recovered. Probably get one decent session this week and get ready to go again. You probably don’t have much time to do an awful lot of video and analysis.

“You have to get your house in order and put your best foot forward on the pitch and hopefully that will be enough on the day,” added the man who is just 60 minutes away from winning every major honour in the game."
