Slaughtneil landed their 13th Derry senior hurling championship title in-a-row by brushing aside Kevin Lynchs with a 3-24 to 1-10 win in Owenbeg this afternoon.

In what was the sixth county final meeting between the teams in seven years, the defending champions had minimal fuss in retaining their crown and claiming the club’s 20th SHC success in the process.

Slaughtneil had opened up a 0-6 to 0-1 lead by the time Brendan Rogers struck their first goal in the 10th minute and they’d add two more majors via Shea Cassidy and Rogers to move towards an unassailable 3-14 to 0-3 half-time lead.

Cassidy, Rogers and Shane McGuigan kept the points sailing over for the holders after the change of ends as Kevin Lynch's grabbed a consolation goal in injury-time and the margin would be 20 points in the end.

The latest Fr Collins Cup success now brings Slaughtneil within three title wins of their Dungiven opponents on the Oak Leaf County’s SHC roll of honour list.
