Mark O’Connor has agreed a new two-year deal with Geelong Cats that is set to see him staying at the AFL club until at least 2028.
The two-time All-Ireland minor football championship winner was drafted by Geelong in 2016, winning a Premiership title with them in 2022.
This past winter saw O’Connor returning home to help his native Dingle capture their maiden All-Ireland club senior football championship crown after they defeated St Brigid’s of Roscommon in a thrilling final at Croke Park in January.
Speaking to geelongcats.com.au, Geelong Cats Executive General Manager of Football Andrew Mackie said:
“Mark’s been an important player for us for a long time now. He consistently plays the roles required of him and brings experience that sets a strong example for the group.”
