Sam Mulroy says he just stuck to his routine to fire over the free that propelled Louth into their first-ever All-Ireland SFC quarter-final.

The Naomh Mairtin clubman was calmness personified at Inniskeen on Sunday as he nailed an injury-time free to give the Wee County a history-making 1-9 to 1-8 preliminary quarter-final victory over Cork.

Ger Brennan’s charges takes their place in this morning’s quarter-final draw, where they will be paired with either neighbours Armagh or Donegal in the last eight.

“It’s one that you just go back to your routine and you try your best to stick to your process and forget about everything,” their match-winning full forward told RTE. "It's funny some days they go over, some days they don't. In the first round of the league I had a free to level a match and I missed.

“You're a villain back then. You can't get too high with the highs and lows, so I suppose a kick like that is just a kick for me to stick to my routine and try to make sure I hit it sweetly. Thankfully I did.”
