Bernard Flynn

Legendary Meath forward Bernard Flynn is mourning the passing of his beloved mother, Rose.

Late of Beamore Road, Drogheda, Rose supported Bernard throughout his glittering playing career with Meath and club sides St Colmcille’s, St Joseph’s (Laois) and Mullingar Shamrocks. She is survived by her husband Noel, daughters Linda, Fiona, Elizabeth, Anne, Mary and son Bernard.

Paying tribute to Rose, Bernard’s club of near 35 years Mullingar Shamrocks said: “Rose and Noel Flynn rarely missed a Mullingar Shamrocks event back in the 1990s when Bernard was such a key player for the club.

“Rose is fondly remembered as a wonderful lady and she enjoyed many a Mullingar Shamrocks football and social occasion. In the days when we travelled to the Continent to honour our achievements, Noel and Rose were wonderful travel companions. And, of course, Rose’s grandson Billy has also worn the Shamrocks jersey with distinction and was a member of our senior title winning squad in 2018.”
