Former Mayo midfielder David Brady has admitted that he got his prediction for last Sunday’s Connacht SFC quarter-final against Roscommon badly wrong.

The Ballina man had confidently predicted a Mayo victory that would have paved the way for a repeat of last Sunday week’s Allianz League final, only to be proven wrong by the fired-up Rossies.

“It was, as Joe Biden might say, a Freudian slip when I did position a potential rematch between Galway and Mayo. It was Freudian, but I think I backed it up by saying that it was by no means a done deal,” he told Off the Ball.

“The threat that Roscommon posed, once I copped on to myself, became more real, and so real on Sunday that they completely and utterly deserved their victory.

"Their win and their performance replicated what you’d want from a championship encounter.”
