McGrath to captain Tipp as Cahill names first panel

Noel McGrath has been named as Tipperary senior hurling captain for 2023.
The three-time All-Ireland SHC winner, who has made 136 appearances for Tipp since making his debut in 2009, takes over the captaincy from Ronan Maher, who is now vice-captain.
New Tipperary manager Liam Cahill has also announced a 40-man pre-Allianz League panel which features players from 25 clubs, including long-serving stars Seamus Callanan and Patrick 'Bonner' Maher.
“A number of players who are currently unavailable due to injury have not been included at this point. The team management will continue to assess further potential panel members prior to the commencement of the Allianz Hurling League in early 2023,” a Tipperary GAA statement read.
