SBB retires from commentator's box

It was the end of an era yesterday when Seán Bán Breathnach commentated on his last GAA match for RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta.

The Irish language station celebrated its 50th anniversary at the weekend, but SBB's broadcasting career goes back even further - 53 years in fact.

The veteran Galway broadcaster has covered many Irish sporting events down through the years with yesterday's Allianz Football League Division 1 final between Kerry and Mayo at Croke Park being his last. Arguably his most famous commentary came in 2012 when Bray boxer Katie Taylor was crowned Olympic champion in London.
