The All-Ireland Post Primary competitions will not be played in this academic year but provincial competitions could still go ahead if the current restrictions are eased.

Similar to 2019/’20, there will be no All-Ireland championships connected by the provicial winners in football and hurling with the Hogan and Croke Cups once again unplayed for.

The decision follows on the announcement that there would be no Third Level competitions this year.
Since schools returned last Autumn there have been no competitions played at any level due to Covid-19 restrictions and the likelihood is that none will be played before the end of the school term in a little over four months time.

“We look forward to brighter days when Gaelic Games in schools can restart, and resume their unique contribution to the personal development of students, their physical and emotional wellbeing, their life skills, their sense of contentment with school life, their allegiance to school, and, consequently, the atmosphere and equanimity within each school,” said Seamus Woods, Chairman of the All Ireland Post Primary Committee.

"The contribution made by Gaelic Games at schools level reaches far above and beyond the games themselves, and that is why their place in the GAA firmament must be cherished and protected.”

St Michael's Enniskillen and St Kieran's Kilkenny remain the current holders of the Hogan and Croke Cups respectively. Even though they won the competitions in April 2019, they won't have to hand the Cups back until 2022.
