Galway's Liam Gordon has been appointed as referee for Sunday week's All-Ireland SHC final between Cork and Tipperary.

It will be the Killimor clubman's first Liam MacCarthy Cup decider to take charge of, with his previous major assignments including the 2019 All-Ireland U20HC between the same two counties, the 2023 Munster SHC final between Limerick and Clare, and last year's All-Ireland SHC semi-final involving Clare and Kilkenny.

He also handled the recent All-Ireland SHC quarter-final between Dublin and Limerick where he controversially sent off Dublin's Chris Crummey in the first half. The Dubs went on to pull off a sensational victory with 14 men. Gordon also reffed Cork's Munster SHC round-robin games against Clare and Limerick this year.

The Galway whistler will be assisted by umpires Sean Stack and Thomas Walsh, with Stack also the stand-by referee.
