With Armagh's involvement in the All-Ireland SFC race at an end, Stefan Campbell has wasted no time in signing for his local soccer club, Lurgan Celtic.
The 2024 Sam Maguire Cup winner, who missed last Sunday's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final defeat to Kerry with a hand injury, has already had three spells with the Mid-Ulster Football League outfit who are delighted to secure his services once again.
"We are absolutely delighted to announce the return of none other than Stefan 'Soupy' Campbell to Lurgan Celtic!" the club posted on social media.
"A household name across the country in GAA circles and a proven attacking force on the soccer pitch, Soupy returns to the Hoops for the 2025/26 season — having last pulled on the green and white in 2018.
"Having come through the Celtic youth system and featured across three previous spells for the first team, his return is nothing short of monumental."
Lurgan Celtic first team manager Niall Lavery commented: "What a player. I played alongside 'Soup' for long enough to see what he can do. A leader in any changing room.
"He'll add pace, power, goals and all-round quality to the team.
"It's a brilliant addition that drives the professionalism up considerably. Can't wait to see Stefan back and scoring goals."
Campbell will also continue to line out for his GAA club Clan na Gael over the coming weeks and months. His switch comes after another All-Ireland SFC winner, Tyrone's Cathal McShane, signed for Premier Intermediate side, Strabane Athletic.
