The Longford SFC saga continues to rage after Carrickedemond lodged a fresh appeal with the county’s CCC.

Carrick were at the centre of the initial controversy where they were mistakenly awarded a point in the first half of their drawn final round group clash with Mullinalaghta on September 3. When St Columba’s were awarded the win, Carrick missed out on a quarter-final place and were left facing a relegation semi-final against Longford Slashers instead.

Their subsequent appeal to the Leinster Central Hearings Committee (CHC) was upheld before Longford CCC successfully appealed the decision. The Central Appeals Committee (CAC) then awarded the relegation semi-final to Slashers, leaving Carrick facing a relegation final against Mostrim this weekend.

But they aren’t taking it lying down and are now appealing the decision to award the relegation semi-final to Slashers in order to have it refixed. All the while, the Connolly Cup race has continued and is now down to the semi-final stage with holders Killoe facing Abbeylara and Colmcille taking on Mullinalaghta this weekend.
