2021 All-Ireland SFC winner Cathal McShane has opted out of Tyrone’s squad.

The Owen Roes clubman last appearance for the Red Hands came in their Ulster championship quarter-final win over Cavan in Omagh where he contributed two points from full-forward before being replaced by Mattie Donnelly in the 58th minute.

However, he was no named in the matchday squad by manager Malachy O’Rourke for the team’s Ulster semi-final loss to Armagh in Clones.

The Irish News reported yesterday that McShane informed the management team and team mates on Tuesday evening that he had left the panel.

Tyrone are set to commence their All-Ireland series campaign later this month after being drawn into Group 1 with the Ulster champions (Armagh or Donegal), Mayo and Cavan.
