Ronan Carolan is a chartered Physio and his involvement over the years with the Cavan structure has mainly being just that. I think Ronan would be far too busy to take on the roll. I am not this mans number on fan but if they are looking for a local Micky Graham has his Longford's team in a county final in two weeks time so must be doing something right. I know he did not do it with the minors but worth thinking about don't you think if they want to stay local. I think McEntee is the top name that is being bantered about so maybe he is the man. Sad thing however is he will not have seen any Cavan football this season so a year lost and it will be the same panel??? If it's Dermot McCabe well his team in Longford were beaten last week so he is able to watch the last couple of games the Seniors next Sunday and the Intermediate replay Saturday week. No one outside showing their hand is there. Should Mr Hyland come back for another year ????

Well actually it's not all true. Cavan have more than one ulster since they last one the All Ireland. But sure don't let that get in the way of a stupid comment

Yes I think we should keep it local for new Cavan manager. I have seen big names come in and were a disaster. Look at Tommy Carr and was it Mattie Kerrigan from Meath pure disaster.

Would agree wholeheartedly with Cavanman47. Give it to the best man fullstop. I think the groundwork has been done over the last 5 or 6 years and a decent squad already in place for the right man. It is a an appetising start against the 2 time All Ireland champions the Dubs. unbeaten in 2 years. I'm sure there are a lot of young Cavan players relishing the challenge ahead. Personally I think the County Board have their eye on Mc Entee from Armagh and with 2 or 3 intelligent, unbiased local selectors then it will work out. I have only seen a few games in the local championships but there certainly has been a few new names and maybe a few older ones as well, thrown up. Just looking at Castlerahan I was impressed with David Wright and that young midfielder Daly. Was he on this years u21 team as I hear he is only 19 or 20. ?? Lavey had a few very impressive lads like Shane Tierney and Ray Cullivan is still one of the best ball winners in the county!! Mc Cutcheon from Coothill is another former star playing well along with Hessin. Ramor, I havent seen but hear great reports about the Brady brothers. Should be an interesting final. With a brilliant Intermediate final last Sunday maybe club football is getting back up where it should be. I still think the future is bright !!! if that's the case sure lots of Cavan men have won senior championships Declan McCabe with Summerhill (Meath) Ciaran Brady Colmcille (Longford) and Ciaran Reilly *2 with mullahoran & Ballinagh also Niall Lynch with Kingscourt lots of potential their for managers or excellent strong capable selectors. really need to get the manager situation sorted as has rumbled on too long already. think McEntee with 2 of the above as selectors would be top class but have recently heard Declan Bonnars name mentioned.....

From the outset I wanted to see Mattie McGleenan as the new man for Cavan. He will be all out to win Ulster with Scotstown now, and with Cross out of the picture he will be fancying his chances. Here's hoping Kilcoo will hand him the P45 so things can get moving soon. MadgeKing (Cavan) - Posts: 493 - 04/10/2016 14:53:24 1922417 Link 0 |

Haven't a clue what that means & think your totally missing my point. Anyway I believe Bonnar very interested so hopefully some of de lads I mentioned previously would go as selectors becaus all strong minded successful individuals & I have seen all of dem attending games at all levels in Breffni over the last 4/5 wks

Hope the new man coming from Mayo/Armagh does not think of replacing R. Galligan in the goals because he is kicking the ball to long or scoring from frees.??

I think you will find Niall lynch won two as well with Mullahoran and Kingscourt but got no further. McCabe has been bantered about since day one in fact a trio of McCabes but if they can bring Cavan to the next level I don't care who they are or what they do once Cavan start winning at the next level. The problem the new manager now has is keeping Cavan in Division one for a few years and to be honest it's a hard call for any local man or an outsider. If I was a local lad I would prefer to be taking over a Division two team this way you have room to change but as it stands you are now up against the big guns excluding Cork. But should Cavan hang in there they will have Cork to contend with next year 2018. Bring back Mr Hyland and get him to consolidate this team in Division one for he knows the whole panel. I would not mind seeing Anthony Forde back as well as a coach from the half back to the goalie. BUT put him up in the stats box for the matches. His heart is in the right place and as a player nothing to prove to anyone in Cavan. Too many selectors on the side line kills control. Sean...I would not be too sure that Cork will be back in Div 1 as soon as you think but that is not here or there.. we need to get a man in place soon but in no way should Anthony Forde be let anywhere near the set up... staying in Div 1 will be a huge task and the draw doesn't help one bit.. I reckon 2 from Cavan...Monaghan and Roscommon will go down so let's stay top of that mini league Sean.66 (Cavan) - Posts: 293 - 04/10/2016 22:31:40 1922650 Link 0 |
I tried to post earlier, McEntee is not interested.

What about Sean Boyle, proven track recovered, or bring back Terry, at least he wanted the job!

Yeah the draw is about as tough as it could be. Monaghan and Roscommon you would think are our best chances to pick up points, but they're both away games. Kerry are very beatable in the first 2 rounds but we have them 2nd last. If I was offered right now the opportunity to be heading into the last game knowing that a win in Roscommon would keep us up I'd take it. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5195 - 05/10/2016 11:24:54 1922753 Link 0 |
