We have a full time paid secretary. The rest of the county board are elected at the Agm. marita (None) - Posts: 468 - 17/09/2016 13:59:16 1915353 Link 0 |
Why don't you make yourself useful and list a pile of potential managers that have no interest in the job while you wait to hear who really gets it. Then you can start another vendetta against the new guy with your buddies.

Nail on head Fredflint. Let's get Mickey Harte and Jim McGuinness and Jack O Connor and Pat Gilroy and Pillar Caffrey and James Horan, sure it's a no brainer really

I was at them meetings as a club delegate. VA and TC were endorsed by clubs but don't let the facts get in the way of an arguement. As for your claim Terry told Nackey he was a better half back. Laughable.

Do we have to wait another two weeks now to start interviews???? doratheexplorer (Cavan) - Posts: 1467 - 18/09/2016 19:14:05 1915790 Link 0 |
I'm hearing that its Anthony Cunningham and that it just has to be ratified by the clubs. He was in for the Limerick hurling job but didn't get it. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 19/09/2016 11:32:37 1916127 Link 0 |
Yeah be happy. Heard he improved Laois set up big time this year. Brought Garrycastle to all Ireland final and Galway hurlers so the pedigree is there. Lives in Mullingar so ideal too.

Don't think Cunningham would be a good appointment. I know he was involved with Laois footballers this year for championship and reports emerging from there weren't the best. Wish they would go for someone fresh out of the modern game that knows modern training structures and systems. Cunningham may be bit behind what it takes nowadays. Would be great to see McConville, McEntee bros or someone like this theDagger1986 (Cavan) - Posts: 181 - 19/09/2016 12:12:09 1916164 Link 0 |
The problems in Laois were to do with the manager. Cunningham only arrived a few weeks before championship started. Players involved on panel said he was top class and in a short time made huge improvments to them. Alas he was appointed too late.

Cunninghams name has being doing it's rounds near on four weeks now. If we do get an outsider will he bring his own back-room staff or will he have to work with Cavan staff. For me I hope who ever gets it that he will bring his own team with him and do it his way. I think our chairman will not interfere with management and that has to be a huge plus. I hope we get a new manager soon and maybe announce or introduce him and his back-room team Senior County Final day. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 19/09/2016 12:51:30 1916214 Link 0 |
I too hope that if it is Cunningham that he takes his own back-room staff with him. I also hope that he is his own man and doesn't allow people interfere with his plans and methods. We need a fresh way of thinking and acting. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 19/09/2016 14:05:33 1916291 Link 0 |
It appears that Mattie Mc Gleenon has thrown his name into the hat, hes done good things with scotstown knows the Ulster game, should be given consideration Breffni81 (Cavan) - Posts: 181 - 19/09/2016 16:04:21 1916412 Link 1 |
So interviews should be starting soon. I have heard all the previous names hurled around but I wonder is there anybody with more experience emerging? Personally, I would love someone like Pete McGrath. I think he has been there and won some big titles and he is a hard but fair man. I think we need to have a strong character - have a bad feeling that some of our players were starting to feel more important than Hyland last year. Its a plague in Cavan football as far back as I can remember! Reformation (Cavan) - Posts: 356 - 23/09/2016 10:24:37 1918259 Link 0 |
McGrath has committed to Fermanagh for 2017. Many names could be mentioned but they have to go after people who are available, or actually want the job, FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2825 - 25/09/2016 20:37:55 1919013 Link 0 |
I'm aware of that, just saying that he would be my template. We are clearly struggling to find someone but hopefully the county board can come up with something. I would hope that they are chasing some targets and not just waiting for CV's in the post! Reformation (Cavan) - Posts: 356 - 26/09/2016 10:13:43 1919131 Link 0 |
