Done deal lads and it seems that what i am hearing Banty McEneaney will be the new Cavan manager. He will be named tomorrow afternoon. He will succeed Terry Hyland on a two-year stint which will keep him on until 2019. Gutted to be honest because i thought this was a time to get a good man in!! A hell of a lot of noise coming out about Banty - one question; do the clubs need to ratify the appointment? cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5195 - 08/10/2016 11:52:13 1924011 Link 0 |
If this is right about Banty been d Cavan manager, I think this is a step back Banty will not b able to take Cavan forward. Terry Hylan has done great work what Cavan need is a man to take them to next level and believe me Banty is not d man.Monaghan would have no Ulster titles only for county board got rid of Banty and got Malacky o Rourke in.Monaghan county board turn this man down from getting d county minor job this year.i,m very surprise at Cavan county board and clubs to appoint this man. geardlines (Monaghan) - Posts: 139 - 08/10/2016 12:19:36 1924024 Link 1 |

It is to my belief that Mattie McGleenan is set to be appointed Cavan manager in the next 48 hours. theDagger1986 (Cavan) - Posts: 181 - 08/10/2016 13:34:33 1924038 Link 0 |

Its a pity if the rumors are true about the Banty as the next Cavan Manager . I have noting personal against the man , but i don,t think he was the right choice for the job. I think he is at the same level as Hyland in there ability . goonie (Cavan) - Posts: 308 - 08/10/2016 21:50:36 1924131 Link 0 |
Yes Banty would be a disaster, Meath could not get rid of him quick enough. CavanMike (Cavan) - Posts: 16 - 08/10/2016 22:50:35 1924143 Link 0 |
Mark my words we'll be in Div 3 before we know what hit us. There'll be songs written about the days of Terry JamsieMac (Cavan) - Posts: 482 - 09/10/2016 04:48:56 1924154 Link 0 |
Yes Banty would be a disaster, Meath could not get rid of him quick enough. Does nobody else want the job. CavanMike (Cavan) - Posts:14 - 08/10/2016 22:50:35 1924143 Plenty of interviews so someone wants it. Lot of talk about Mattie Mc Gleenan so they say there is no smoke without fire. Is it possible a new manager might be unveiled today at the senior final. I hear talk that Martie McIlkinnen might be coming back as trainer that would be good news anyway but if my memory serves me right was he not with Banty with Monaghan???. Marty McElkennon was with McEnaney in Meath as well. So one would suspect he will be back on board. Also Jason Reilly is meant to be a selector in Banty's team. shaggylegend (Monaghan) - Posts: 1941 - 09/10/2016 11:54:28 1924185 Link 0 |
Mattie McGleenan would be my top pick for the top job at this stage. He has done a great job with Scotstown. MadgeKing (Cavan) - Posts: 493 - 09/10/2016 12:27:52 1924190 Link 0 |
Cavan chairman on the radio saying the announcement will be made tomorrow night and it's between Seamus McEnaney, Jack Sheedy and Mattie McGlennan. If Mattie got it, Cavan might not have him until March as Scotstown have a hell of q chance of winning Ulster. So can Cavan afford to have a manager not fully committed for the start of Division 1. So for that reason I think Seamus will get it shaggylegend (Monaghan) - Posts: 1941 - 09/10/2016 15:03:08 1924215 Link 0 |
Banty would bring Cavan back to Div 3 in no time if he gets the job. CavanMike (Cavan) - Posts: 16 - 09/10/2016 16:38:32 1924231 Link 0 |
Well lads , I wouldn't be overly happy with Bantys appointment, cop out from county board, but he was at the county final to day in the terrace taking notes him and another guy.

It would have to be clarified by the clubs. Monaghan turned him down for the minor job Meath could not wait to get rid of him so I expect Cavan will not be in a hurry to make a decision. I was talking to a chap today and he Banty and his four on his management team, two of them are local and a third was involved with Cavan before. Lot of talk about the Scotstown man The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 09/10/2016 21:10:07 1924298 Link 0 |
Hopefully Mattie McGleenan is in a position to accept the job he is the best of the three contenders for Cavan football.

Probably hoping against hope here, but s it possible that McGlennon has the job but can't take over until Scotstown are finished in Ulater/All Ireland series, and that an experienced man like Banty has been asked to take the reigns until then? cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5195 - 10/10/2016 11:19:14 1924430 Link 0 |
