Replying To deanmartin:  "Sorry lads, haven't been on in a while, deliberately stayed off as I wanted to let Jonsmith, Skelling, Cavan97 and the band of Terry supporters have their say...
Three times we've played Tyrone this year, 2 losses and a draw. I remember after the league final defeat, Terry did an interview about how Tyrone have used the same tactics for the last 9 years, and yet, after 3 games, he still couldn't get it right. Granted, he's up against one of the best managers in the game, but then, in order to compete, you need to be a a top manager.
No personal gripe against Terry, he got us to Division 1, but anyone who thinks that the Championship was nothing short of very disappointing is totally delusional. The general consensus is that management got it wrong tactically, which has been a consistent fault over the last few years. I've even read posts about players not doing what they're told and making changes themselves, what nonsense!
Anyway, roll on the Q/Finals....bus loads will leave Cavan on some Sunday morning....."

to be fair Dean, it's 4 times. 3 losses and a draw.

Going be a tight game! Derry are going to be gunning to get at us after such a great come back against Meath. They certainly have strong attacking backs and great score takers, as well as a strong midfield. If Cavan start slowly, and let Derry take initiative, our season could crumble.
Givney is such a loss, as he has being a serious player for Cavan in the forwards, and if Cavan are going to progress, they need to use the strength of a strong and tall player in the forwards. Cavan's play can be slow sometimes in momentum, pace and progression without the strength of the likes of Givney upfront. Keating and Argue are the best options. Keating did well in patches against Carlow, but Chrissy McKaigue is a great full back. I hope Keating can show, n bring others into game. Just wondering why Argue has got little time? Think he was great in the league, especially League Final, but has got little time in last two games. He has great potential! Come on Cavan!

We are 1/2 and Derry are 2/1 or there abouts. Derry price moved from 15/8 to 21/10 on Paddy Power so not too many backing them, surprising since Givney is gone but sure there's not too many poor bookies around!

Well Fredflint if you want to make a quick buck have a good cut at Derry at 21/10. If Cavan win you will be happy and if they lose you will make money. So you in a no lose situation.

As things stand we have met Derry three times in the qualifiers, Derry have won twice in 2001&2004 and progressed to the AI semi's, whereas the one time we beat them in 2013 we reached the quarters. We haven't met Derry in Ulster since 2000 when they gave us our second bad beating in two years, seems at the time they hadn't forgiven us for 97.

They knockers on this website are as boring and brainless! Changes to management have to happen at the beginning or end of campaigns or as it so fits!
Why not let team and management have our full support, God knows they deserve it for the sacrifice they make in their personal lives! The supporters can choose to follow or not!
I say give them a chance and wish them best of luck!!

To come on here and try and knock Cavan supporters I suggest you look back at Mayo's history with Managers and how to shaft them, people in glass houses spring to mind ?????????????????? I am sure that should Mr Hyland wish to stay on at the helm no one will remove him well that's my opinion anyway.

Great to be back, and not too often myself and Cavan97 agree, but seriously lads, anyone that thinks that the current management set up should stay on, needs to take a good look at themselves. They cant bring us any further that where we are now, they did a great job getting us to Division 1 and we are all grateful for that, but their lack of tactical awareness and their lack ability to make changes when we really needed them is plain to be seen, particularly in the big matches. We had Tyrone on the ropes in the first match, Harte knew this, made a change or two and Tyrone are back in the game, in the 2nd match, once Tyrone got on the front foot, it was over, we had no answer.

Was that the match where we failed to register a single score in the 2nd half? then again, nothing new there, in the 1st match against Tyrone this year, we went a total of 44 mins without a score.

Good to see Skelling from the old USA back....did you enjoy your trip home to Ireland, or have you been basing your comments on the highlights of the Sunday game?

Are Cavan supporters living in other counties not allowed contribute? My comments are purely based on the posts here in comparison with other sites. Sorry I didn't realise this is just a site for knocking our team and management! This Cavan team will succeed in spite of the begrudge!

With regard to the management team, let's wait and see how Saturday's game goes.
I'm living in Westmeath at the moment and I've seen what happened to their team after they changed management after he brought them to division1.
One thing I would say is that we can't always rely on the high ball hit and hope into the forwards.
Now that Givney is out it'll be interesting to see how we get on up front and I can see Gearoid in midfield.

don't worry fifty. some people have no sense of humour or irony. and some people don't realise when others have no sense of humour or irony. Life can be a hard slog for those kinds of people, i sometimes wonder how they get by at all.
