Derry.......always Derry:) Seems like Derry and Cavan have played each other at crucial stages over the years, 1988, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2013. At least Cavan are at home, but they will be flying after a great win against the Royal Meath! There was nothing between the teams in league, but there better finishing. They will certainly be up for it, hopefully Cavan will be able to get back to great performances. Boys looked tired on Saturday, this game will have them excited. Hopefully an evening game on Saturday. Breffini Abú soraghallaigh (Cavan) - Posts: 15 - 11/07/2016 09:12:50 1880624 Link 0 |
hopefully Derry get the victory. Cavan aren't going to win an Ulster title or an All Ireland on the back off winning a few meaningless back door games so at least if they lost, the majority off players in the county who have been completely disrespected and ignored yet again can get a few games wishfulthinkin (Cavan) - Posts: 1720 - 11/07/2016 09:26:50 1880643 Link 0 |
The match will be played this coming weekend I expect another Saturday evening kick off. This is a match should be expected to win with home advantage as well. I will draw a reasonable crowed I expect.

Folks, its a great draw, not because we are in any way certain to win the tie but because its at home and should we advance it will be a lift to morale in the camp, they beat us at the Park in the second round of the league, so a win will mean something and put us in better shape to meet either Tipp/Galway or Roscommon in the last 12. kildare blue (Cavan) - Posts: 578 - 11/07/2016 12:07:54 1880828 Link 0 |
Cavan cant afford to go twenty minutes with out scoring against Derry as they did in there last few matches. CavanMike (Cavan) - Posts: 16 - 11/07/2016 15:10:04 1881003 Link 0 |

I dont think its in the bag for cavan . In fact i think going on current form we will be lucky to get the win .The lads dont look hungry to me maybe im been harsh but in my humble opinion they look tied and lazy at times . I hope im wrong but was unimpressed in breffni sat evening asitis (Cavan) - Posts: 233 - 11/07/2016 16:34:05 1881091 Link 0 |
If we can't beat Derry at home then it's time to pull the plug and start anew as the project would have failed. I don't like the back door but if players are not up for a tilt at Derry then i'd ask why they're even on the panel. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 11/07/2016 17:59:58 1881175 Link 1 |
what exactly do you mean by pull the plug and start anew. do you mean get rid of all the current crop of players plus the management team. That would be a bit drastic. in a game there can be one winner, why should it be us.

it's on Saturday at 3:30pm. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts:4274 - 11/07/2016 15:55:33 1881053 Strange time for a match, they are not helping the supporters who work on Saturday's and other things, strange call for sure. Will there be a good support at this match I wonder???? I suppose when you see the Connaught replay being shoved in between two other finals one can see there is only one winner here and thats the people calling the shot's TV The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 11/07/2016 19:15:47 1881241 Link 0 |
The Connacht final replay is not been televised thank god . Woeful stuff couldn't look at a repeat of that again. There have been plenty of Backdoor games at 3-30 on Saturdays . Don't worry it will be our last one . I fully expect Derry to beat us given their recent improvement . We have already played Derry in the league but true to form won't have learnt anything from that game . We never do. Anyway we are team building . Terry needs a few more years before we challange the Tyrones or the monaghans . The future is blue!! Believe !!

Had the beating of Derry in the league . Should have won the game in the end . I'm going for a cavan win in this one . Don't think Derry are that good . Hopefully we get a performance. kinglarry (Cavan) - Posts: 189 - 11/07/2016 20:26:28 1881331 Link 0 |

Why do you think Derry will beat Cavan they are still in Division 2 and Cavan are in Division 1 also Meath have a reputation of folding in the second half so what will Mr Hyland have learnt from that game ???? It baffles me how anyone can consider us favourites for the Derry game. Ok we finished a couple of places above them in the league bu t remember they won the head to head and also give us a good beating in the Mc Kenna Cup before that( Derry only got beaten in the final after extra time by Tyrone ) I was at the league game ( nearly froze to death ) in Breffni and despite what people say we should have been beaten by a whole lot more than one point. We only came good in the last ten minutes ( Argue scoring a well taken goal to keep us in touch ) Derry , in my opinion , were by far the better side for most of the game , missing a penalty in the process . At the way we are playing at present we ll be lucky to hold them to ten points. For some reason we have reverted back to playing the way we were last year and the year before compared to the last five games of the league - where we were playing some super attacking football. And worse still I dont think Terry knows the difference. Too much tinkering around with the team , dropping fellas that got us through the league ie Argue . Buchannon , Ciaran Brady & Faulkner and replacing them with lads who we ve been looking at for too long and who add nothing to the team. I hope i m wrong but I d be very afraid of whats ahead on Saturday. tenyearplan (Cavan) - Posts: 147 - 11/07/2016 22:37:05 1881448 Link 0 |
The bookies have us as favourites too, does that also baffle you?

some of those Derry boys don't look fit. If we play a good young strong-running team we should beat them. The strength in depth in our panel should be exploited. It will be a close game. hopefully it will be a scorcher weather-wise and it turns out like it did in 2013 (what a great game that was). s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5520 - 11/07/2016 23:18:22 1881467 Link 0 |
Yea they also had Monaghan has odds -on favourites and France ! Are you not capable of working things out for yourself ? tenyearplan (Cavan) - Posts: 147 - 12/07/2016 00:01:10 1881481 Link 0 |

They gave Meath a 7 pt start and comfortably beat them by 3. They are on an upward curve we are not . We have stalled since we got promotion . Fresh ideas , fresh methods badly needed. Terry's last game hopefully . Sorry to say but he has brought us as far as he can Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts: 1050 - 12/07/2016 02:34:58 1881499 Link 0 |
Not too many bookies go bust, you clearly don't understand how the world works, never mind football.
