What are you basing these ideas on? You cannot judge a teams ability on how friendly they are at training. You don't attend club or even many county games. If you did then your opinion would carry weight. You can always jump on the resurgent Cork bandwagon. They would love your informed positivity.

There is no point in listing teams that we may or may not beat at this stage... The season is over and was over the moment Tyrone came out of the draw.. Mickey Graham has a big job ahead to restore confidence and belief not only in his squad but also in the supporters as the manner of the last defeat will be hard to get out of everyone's head... There are some players we may have seen for the last time and I think Mickey must bite the bullet and rid himself of at least one of his backroom team.... Next season should be all about getting back to division one as I doubt we will get as favourable draw again in the Ulster Championship Sean.66 (Cavan) - Posts: 293 - 16/07/2019 22:49:37 2212124 Link 0 |
Okay would you beat Armagh tomorrow if you had to play them I would say not by a long shot. Sceptical: you seem to think you know a lot about me I find that very strange. Am I the only person that has to introduce himself when he is at a game wise. Wise up for christ sake and start speaking sense. I have attended several matches but not as many as I would have liked too but god willing I will see a lot more with the championship starting. I might as well make use of my membership card no point in staying at home. I would say I could make a better chance of selecting a team to represent Cavan than you could. Reason for that is as I have stated I am not blinkered and I can give a un-blinkered opinion on every player regardless of what club they play for. By the way don't say I am not a member of any club I am and have been for a long time. If in doubt maybe the secretary of the County Board might tell you but it's my own business so he may well not respond to you. Why don't you admit it as it stands Cavan have made no progress if anything they have gone backwards. You say ffs you beat Armagh and Monaghan a few weeks ago a division 3 team and a Monaghan team carrying too many injuries. If you are a genuine GAA person you will have to agree lucky against Armagh and a penalty that never was against Monaghan but you have a habit of taking these things truth to be told like the 1997 Ulster Final the winning point that never was ASK Derry. I was at it were you. Come on it's a joy to support a team that are trying it's very difficult to watch a useless team and I agree in the league Cork were the very same. Anyway championship over let's see how these players you think are super stars perform. I suppose you think you will walk right back into Division 1 I don't think so. There would be no person happier than me if Cavan went out there and played entertaining football to want to go and watch them again and again. Negative crap no one wants to watch, this is the same all over the country off course. There you are prove me wrong and tell me who Cavan will beat with the present players next year. Roscommon lose. They will get promoted Fermanagh win Clare draw Armagh lose they will get promoted Cavan Kildare lose Westmeath maybe a draw Laois lose That gives Cavan probably 4 points is it enough to stay in division 2. I expect G M.Kiernan will not be avaiable for the league and I would not be surprised if K Clarke M Reilly N Murray C Mackey McLoughlin Brady Brady Faulkener to name a few that might well not be available for the League and maybe Galligan Galligan Moynagh & McVeety as well. Aye but waterford are another level! Take no heed of him"]I will close after this: To the previous poster I remember the Waterford game well a good few years back when on a Thursday night all the fringe players were invited in after the match the following weekend. All they needed to do was hammer this waterford team by 22 points no problem and we will top the table oh boy did Cavan get a lesson on complacency and the rest is history. Lol Lol Lol Lol Lol John Kiely had to scrape a team together to play Cavan all he could offer them was that if they came in and played Cavan they would get to play Kerry in their first game in the Munster competition. Prior to that match I spoke with John in the middle of the Breiffni pitch when he told me the above. A few minuets before kick off he did not even have a team to start. 4 players came in through the top turnstiles with a few minuets to spare and the rest is history. To the big mouth supporters and posters here it's all about attitude attitude attitude attitude attitude attitude attitude attitude??? Some day Cavan will get a manager who will be the boss and results will follow guaranteed. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 17/07/2019 11:22:48 2212269 Link 0 |

As someone who as at that game they won as they had two excellent midfielders and because Cavan totally took their eye of the ball due to complacency - they had beaten westmeath the week before and thought that was the job done. Not sure what this has got to do with anything but sure there is no point asking you that is there. fredflint (Cavan) - Posts: 1485 - 17/07/2019 12:19:54 2212303 Link 0 |

I would just like to clarify something for sceptical and probably many on here who don't know me. I attended very few club games why you ask well it's because of what I did and as a result it was near impossible for me to go to many games. Christ that's some drivel I'm after reading. So Cavan beat Armagh by 6 points in a replay so the only conclusion is they were lucky and would lose if we played again tomorrow. Beating Monaghan doesn't count either because we got a soft penalty (very early in the game I might add). Lost to Waterford years ago to boot (with a completely different set of players) which conclusively proves there's only about 5 teams in the country this team could beat. Fact of playing Division 2 or higher for what will be at least 6 consecutive seasons doesn't come into the reckoning. The players were bad the last day. We know that. They know better than anyone but as bad and all as they were, this sticking the boot in by supporters really sickens my hole. Golden rule seems to be- they win, doesn't count, got lucky. They lose then assassinate them. No wonder so many players pack it in with the amount of p%$#@& commenting from the sideline. Hardtimes (Cavan) - Posts: 1056 - 17/07/2019 16:53:28 2212424 Link 1 |
67 years since a senior All Ireland and many think they have bragging rights. Hammered by Tyrone that struggled to beat us last year is a backward step for sure. Yes Armagh will show us where we are at come next February one way or the other. Normally you would hear we have an easy division but I expect it's going to be a very difficult division for sure. The least that will be expected is promotion back to Division 1 this will not happen being honest.

Look i dont want another essay. I will leave it at this. I have attended countless club and county games and have seen you at almost none. I dont care about why you couldn't attend. My gripe with you and your likes is that you have constantly sniped at county players and management since you moved on from the groundsman job. You know nothing about the club scene in cavan. Your posts are obviously motivated by a wish to get back at the powers that be. If you name an alternative squad there, as you say without the blinkers, then we can compare. If you don't know the players stop spouting uninformed nonsense.

I see it's a struggling Tyrone now. Don't bother mentioning the Tyrone annihilation of Roscommon in Super 8s. Can't be dealing with facts if they show you up as FOS. Why don't you petition to get Val in for next year. That way we can guarantee Division 3 football for 2021 and you can gloat I told you so.

You are full of yourself lad if you have been around as long as I have one would have seen the quality players we lost because no one was willing to facilitate them. So you expected me to slice myself up in sections so people like you could see me at games wise up and speak some sense. In October let's meet up and compare whom we feel that should at least get a trial if nothing else. This is the only way that you will see my list of players so see you in October. Why would I petition to have Val back he left but was flogging a dead horse with his back room and players also. I have no problems saying we lost one very good player in his time because he could not facilitate him despite the person in question being a dairy farmer. Micky given the chance should do a good job but he needs to get a few things sorted if he intends to improve things for next year. Those that think I have gripes with the County Board it's totally untrue we get on very well and just in case one does not know it I am fecking 69 years old and decided to retire myself along with health issues so why would I have any issues with them. Wise up idiots. I was not aware we were talking about Roscommon I thought it was Cavan. But now that you mention them Cavan will be playing them next year along with Armagh two teams Cavan beat and these two teams will be fighting for promotion to Division 1 I expect next March. Hardtimes: you mention division 3 not I ? but don't be surprised if that might well be the situation next March but I hope not. I am not one to gloat about Cavan's failures for I am one of their genuine supporters and I always hoped for the best and it has not changed today either. Player power assisted by someone at the top is a very dangerous situation for any manager. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 17/07/2019 19:00:21 2212487 Link 0 |

Year after year you continuously miss the point. The supporters are justifiably fuming after that performance against Tyrone. They're completely entitled to be annoyed at the attitude shown that day. However there is an underlying frustration that compounds the problem for Cavan supporters, and that is the outright failure of the team, not just this year, or last year, or the last decade, but for the last half a century. Half a damn century. Constant underachievement. Decades of it. You just don't understand. None of us expect to win the AI. None of us expect to win Ulster every year. But all things considered, we should be winning at least one provincial title every ten years. That's really not too much to ask.
